For camping near Widemouth Bay and Bude, compare Penhalt Farm, Upper Lynstone, Wooda and Willow Valley. Penhalt is the Widemouth-focused option; the others offer different Bude-area settings and facilities. Book directly with the operator and match the pitch to your tent, caravan or motorhome.
Five questions to ask before an off-season booking
- Is the campsite accepting your unit type on your exact dates, rather than merely advertising year-round accommodation?
- Is the pitch hardstanding or grass, and what happens if the ground becomes waterlogged?
- Which toilets, showers, food outlets and reception services will be operating?
- What is the route back after dark, and does the advertised beach distance assume driving or a walk you are comfortable making?
- What are the arrival, bad-weather and cancellation arrangements?
Ask the chosen operator directly before paying. A touring pitch, static holiday home and tent pitch can have different seasonal availability on the same park.

Penhalt Farm: closest to this guide’s Widemouth focus
Penhalt’s own website places it on the Coastal Downs one mile south of Widemouth Bay and describes an eight-acre touring and camping park on a working farm. Treat that as a location description, not a measured step-free walking route to the beach. Its camping page lists grass pitches, electric hook-ups on many pitches, showers, toilets, laundry and washing-up; the rules require controlled dogs and prohibit gazebos and campfires. The page still refers to a planned shower-block refurbishment, so confirm its current condition rather than assuming that work is complete.
Wooda: compare the pitch, not just the park
Wooda’s official camping page distinguishes non-electric grass, electric grass and multi-serviced hardstanding pitches. Facilities listed include toilet/shower blocks, washing-up, laundry and a camper’s kitchen; selected pitches offer private bathroom pods. Dogs are accepted on listed pitch types with an additional charge and park rules. Check your exact pitch and dates because minimum stays and arrival-day restrictions vary.
The operator lists some headline pitches from £23 for non-electric grass and £35 for grass electric when checked, but these are starting prices, not a quote for your dates or party. Use the booking engine to include dogs, electricity, additional vehicles and any private facilities.
Upper Lynstone: between Bude and Widemouth
The operator places this family-run park on the coastal road to Widemouth, three quarters of a mile from Bude. Its published facilities include electric camping/touring fields, hardstanding touring pitches, heated showers/toilets, a family bathroom, disabled wet room, laundry, shop and play area. A facility being listed does not certify a whole pitch-to-beach route as step-free. Its touring page lists 10-amp electric pitches and 15 all-weather hardstandings. Well-behaved pets are allowed, dogs must be on leads and exercised off-park. Confirm pitch size, opening dates and availability directly before booking.
Willow Valley: inland shelter and year-round hardstanding
Willow Valley’s camping page describes 21 level pitches across two fields in a river valley. Large non-electric grass pitches are tents-only; other grass and hardstanding pitches have optional electric. Grass is listed for March–October, while hardstanding is available year-round. Facilities include shared showers/toilets, laundry, washing-up and a dog wash. The operator welcomes dogs on leads up to two metres, does not allow them to be left unattended and publishes breed exclusions; read those terms before paying.
This is a Bude-area alternative, not a campsite beside Widemouth sand. Budget for driving and beach parking, and ask which pitch surface suits your own caravan, motorhome or tent. Its headline price starts at £24 per night for two, but extras and dates change the actual total.
Choose by the trip you want
- Widemouth-first: start with Penhalt’s location, then verify the actual walk or drive.
- Bude and coastal walks: compare Upper Lynstone’s location and facilities.
- More pitch and facility choice: compare Wooda’s individual pitch types, rather than assuming every pitch has the same services.
- Inland or off-season: Willow Valley distinguishes seasonal grass from year-round hardstanding.
How far is “near the beach”?
A straight-line distance is not a safe walking route. Check the actual lane, pavement and crossing arrangement, especially with children or a pushchair. If you will drive to the beach, include Widemouth parking charges in the daily cost. Dog owners should distinguish the main Widemouth beach from Black Rock, which Visit Bude lists as dog-friendly all year.
Before booking
- Confirm your unit dimensions, including awning and vehicle, against the pitch.
- Ask which facilities will be open during your actual stay, especially in winter.
- Check electric hook-up rating and whether usage is included.
- For motorhomes, check drinking water, waste disposal and road access.
- Check cancellation terms and the complete stay price before paying.
