Come Camping in Bude

How to find Budemeadows

These directions are mainly for those coming from the North via the M5 or the East/South East/South Coast using the A303, A30 or M4/M5.
Note for SatNav users: Your SatNav may try to take you to the center of the area covered by the postcode and will tell you to turn off the A39 towards Widemouth bay (Leverlake Road). If you are coming South and this happens then you have another 200 meters still to go along the A39, coming North then you've just missed us. If you do find yourself in Leverlake road turning can be difficult for motorhomes or if you are towing. If this is the case then the simplest solution is to drive to the end of the road, turn Left and follow the road back around the meet the A39 again to the South of Budemeadows. Turn left here and then right into the lay-by after about 400 meters - we're at the far end.

Map of route 1 to Budemeadows The simple route - via Barnstaple and passing Key North Devon attractions such as Clovelly, the Milky Way and the Big Sheep:   Easy to follow but after Barnstaple the road narrows and there are several sharp bends on the A39 between Clovelly and Kilkhampton:
Follow the M5 to junction 27 (signpost for Barnstaple) Follow the A361 to Barnstaple nd at a roundabout take the A39 (towards Bideford & Bude) which will take you all the way to Budemeadows passing Bideford, Clovelly and Kilkhampton. When you get to Bude DO NOT turn off towards Bude town but continue South on the A39 for approximately 3 miles. Look out for a sign "Boxes Shop" and then look for the signs for Budemeadows leading to the lay-by at top of the rise, just after the sign right for Widemouth Bay. The site entrance is almost immediately on the left after you enter the lay-by.

The shortest route - better than the previous route for those coming from the South East and London along the the A303/A30 past Exeter. NB there are a couple of steep hills between Okehampton and Holsworthy:
Join or stay on the M5 at junction 29 and continue past Exeter services. Stay left up the hill and exit at junction 31 at the top onto the A30 (towards Okehampton). Exit the A30 at Okehampton turning right onto the A386 then at a roundabout take the left turn (A3079), for Bude & Holsworthy. Avoid Holsworthy town by turning right on the (A3072), (signed Bude). At the top of the hill, at the mini roundabout go straight on and then turn right onto the A3072 for Bude. Follow this road untill you reach the A39 at Stratton and turn left. Once on the A39 ignore any signs for Bude and continue South for approximately 3 miles. Look out for a sign "Boxes Shop" and then look for the signs for Budemeadows leading to the lay-by at top of the rise, just after the sign right for Widemouth Bay. The site entrance is almost immediately on the left after you enter the lay-by.

Map showing the quick route Longer route but better roads and fewer steep hills:
Follow the previous route along the M5 past Exeter and ext at junction 31 to the A30 (for Okehampton). Stay on the A30 until about 5 miles past the Launceston exit. Take the exit for the A395, turn right at the roundabout, cross the A30 via the flyover and then take the first exit at the next roundabout to follow the A395. At Hallworthy turn right onto the B3262 (2nd right past the pub and filling station. Follow this road to the A39 and turn right onto the A39 (The Atlantic Highway). Continue North for about 12 miles to Budemeadows. You will pass through Wainhouse Corner and then Poundstock. Afte passing Poundstock as you drop down the hill you will see Bude over to the left. Look out for a turning to Widemouth Bay on the left and then look for the "Budemeadows" signs. At the 2nd Budemeadows sign turn right into the lay-by on right. There are 2 campsite entrances in the lay-by, Budemeadows is at the far end, just before it rejoins the A39.
